Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez is facing the prospect of being left out of Mexico’s squad for the Copa América this summer.
That’s according to TUDN, who report that the Fulham striker’s ‘major ups and downs’ this season and his injury issues in recent months have created doubts for manager Jaime Lozano.
They report that Jiménez is facing the prospect of being left out of the group for the tournament and becoming the latest Mexico veteran to be left out.
Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa will be out of the selection after Lozano elected to go in a different direction and Jiménez could be joining him thanks to the ‘dark moment’ he is currently going through at Fulham.
He’s only managed 61 minutes in his last 14 games thanks to injuries and the surprise rise of Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz, who has taken advantage of his absence to establish himself as the first choice under Marco Silva.
Jiménez had already been absent from the clashes with Panama and the United States in the final four of the Concacaf Nations League and it seems that absence will stretch on for another few months.
It seems Lozano is looking to move the nation on and look at players for the future and the Fulham man, as well as Ochoa and Jesús Gallardo, are the ones set to miss out as a result.
