Over the past 24 hours Fulham have been pushed closer and closer to signing Bjorn Engels from Club Brugge.
Engels has been linked with a string of English clubs and perhaps not too much of an exaggeration to state half the Premier League have been linked to the defender at some point over the past 18 months.
There’s always been a doubt over whether Engels was really Premier League standard, at least yet, and that’s why the Fulham links made more sense than earlier Stoke City ones, but it seems that track is going cold too.
Het Belang van Limburg report Fulham have now pulled back from a deal, and aren’t racing ahead to sign Engels.
Instead, another, as yet unnamed, Championship club is looking to take the opportunity and get the Club Brugge player in their squad.
Things could change but the latest line from Belgium is that Fulham have backed away from 22 year old Engels.
