Fulham were an option for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo this summer, according to reports from the Brazilian media.

Outlet UOL today features a story describing how the player’s late move to Liverpool happened.

They bring some details about it and say the Premier League had always been the main target for him.

“The only way is England” said one of UOL’s sources on Wednesday, before he agreed the move to Anfield.

That is because that’s the only place where clubs could afford the salary he had at Juventus.

The report recalls that Arsenal had tried to sign him in January, and Everton and Fulham were the ‘possible alternatives’ for him in the Premier League.

The Gunners’ and Toffees’ interest in the player had been widely reported, but the news about the Craven Cottage side stands out as something new.

However, it’s really Liverpool who were ‘immediately accepted’ by the player on Thursday, when they went for a replacement for Jordan Henderson.

Fulham ended up signing three Brazilian players this summer.

They bought Andreas Pereira from Manchester United, landed Willian as a free agent and also managed to get a late deal for Benfica striker Carlos Vinícius.
