The chase of Fulham and Nottingham Forest for Benfica fullback Grimaldo is today again mentioned in the Portuguese media.

This time, it’s newspaper Jornal de Notícias who features a story saying the Eagles will do their best to keep the player.

Grimaldo’s contract with Benfica expires at the end of the season, and with no agreement for an extension, the Lisbon side are set to fight until the end to try to convince him of signing a renewal.

Speaking of interested clubs, Jornal de Notícias labels Fulham as ‘one of the main interested’ clubs, followed by Nottingham Forest.

Spanish sides such as Real Sociedad and Valencia are also said to be interested, along with Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.

The newspaper says Grimaldo, who has 13 assists for Benfica this season, ‘has not yet decided’ on his future, despite being a ‘priority’ for the Eagles.

The player has been linked to Premier League sides for a while, and Fulham and Nottingham Forest could give them a new chance this summer, but with so many clubs in the race, their offer must be convincing enough.
