Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez will be given a second chance at reviving his international career, with manager Javier Aguirre keen to bring him back into the fold.
That’s according to 365 Scores, who report that the Mexico boss is keen to bring Jiménez and other veterans back after they were left out by his predecessor.
Aguirre has returned to the Mexican set up for a third time this summer, replacing Jamie Lozano after he was sacked following a disappointing group stage exit at the Copa América.
Lozano had tried to be bold with his squad selection for the tournament this summer, leaving out familiar faces such as the Fulham striker, Guillermo Ochoa and Hirvin Lozano in favour of different players.
That had been seen as a potential end to their international careers, particularly Ochoa, who is now 39 years old, and Jiménez, who is 33-years-old.
The Fulham striker has endured a difficult few years after battling back from the serious head injury he suffered at Wolves ad has featured for his country since November last year, being left out of the squad for their last nine games.
Aguirre wants to fix that, though, and bring him back alongside Lozano and Ochoa for the next international break.
He has already spoken to the Fulham man about a return, as well as the other two, holding ‘first talks’ with the trio and making it clear that they are in his plans for the next break and even the 2026 World Cup.
Whether they accept the offer to return remains to be seen but it is on the table and their time with Mexico may not be as over as it seemed.
