The biggest Fulham news in Friday’s Portuguese newspapers relates to Joao Palhinha and the London club closing in on a deal for the Sporting player.

Record also report a second offer from the London club for a midfielder. This time FC Porto’s Marko Grujic.

The 26-year-old signed for Porto permanently in July 2021, having previously been on loan at the club from Liverpool. He failed to make the breakthrough at the Reds and has instead been building his career in Portugal.

Fulham’s offer is said to be worth €18m, which is the same as they initially put forward for Palhinha. That may suggest the Porto midfielder was seen as an alternative.

That offer isn’t consider to be enough, and there’s an expectation at Porto that Grujic’s value will rise when he represents Serbia at the Qatar World Cup later this year.

Nevertheless, it’s clear Marco Silva is committed to shopping in Portugal, and the wider situation is certainly one to keep an eye on.
