Fulham are keen on a move for Fenerbahçe defender Yusuf Akçiçek and have ‘stepped in’ to sign the 17-year-old from the Turkish side.

That’s according to Sabah, who say the young star ‘will transfer’ to Europe just like Merih Demiral did when he moved to Alcanenense in 2016.

The newspaper reports that Marco Silva’s side are very keen on securing the youngster, who is yet to make his debut for Fenerbahçe but has been featuring for Turkey’s U17s after making his debut this year.

Fulham are ‘closely analysing’ the situation of the young defender and said to be ‘very insistent’ on making a transfer happen.

Fenerbahçe are naturally keen not to lose a young star for the future and are instead looking to get the youngster signed to his first professional deal in the near future.

They are aware that there is increasing interest in the defender, with Fulham not the only side to have noticed him.

Spanish sides Zaragoza, Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano are also ‘closely following’ Akçiçek’s development and could be ready to compete for his signature if Fulham make their move.

That has seemingly not happened as yet, but there is a feeling they could push for a deal sooner rather than later.
