Fulham goalkeeper coach Hugo Oliveira is in negotiations to become the head coach of Portuguese side Famalicão.
That’s according to O Jogo, who report that the Fulham coach is keen to move up in his career and become a head coach.
According to their information, Oliveira is currently the leading candidate to replace Armando Evangelista at the Portuguese club.
They report that Oliveira is looking for a challenge as a head coach after serving on Marco Silva’s ‘technical committee’ as a goalkeeper coach.
The 45-year-old moved into coaching after a playing career in Portugal and has worked at Hull City, Watford and Everton in England.
Famalicão had initially looked to hire former Braga manager Daniel Sousa as Evangelista’s replacement, but he has chosen to move abroad after receiving offers from teams outside of Portugal.
That’s seen them turn their attention to Oliveira and it seems they are ready to offer the Fulham man his first opportunity as a head coach.
Negotiations are now underway to make that happen, with a compensation package presumably needed before the goalkeeper coach can leave Fulham and Marco Silva behind.
