Joshua Zirkzee had a disappointing night in Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday.

Ruben Amorim subbed him off in the 33rd minute and the forward was booed by a section of fans at Old Trafford. This has seen an increase in the reports linking the former Bologna star with a move back to Serie A in January.

The Manchester United player is on the front page of today’s Corriere dello Sport as Juventus ‘dream’ of signing him.

Zirkzee joined the Red Devils last summer and has been linked with a move back to Italy almost endlessly since. Corriere state these claims were initially dismissed and the idea of his return was labelled as some sort of fantasy.

However, the Netherlands international’s situation at Manchester United has changed after his substitution against Newcastle and the reaction from supporters. The report adds Amorim’s decision may have resulted in a wound that’s difficult to heal.

This allows Juve to ‘dream’ about reuniting the player with his former manager, Thiago Motta, who sees the Dutchman as the perfect fit for his style of play. The Serie A side are looking to sign Zirkzee on a free loan deal with an option to buy.

The newspaper feels Juve are increasingly likely to fulfil their ‘dream’ of signing Zirkzee in January and whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
