Back in March, El Desmarque reported Chelsea failed to sign Barcelona’s Marc Casadó after making an offer last summer. They also reported the west London club weren’t successful with an attempt in January.
The Blues haven’t forgotten the 21-year-old and are still keen on signing him this summer.
Chelsea have shown the ‘most interest’ in him and this is on the front page of today’s edition of Sport, where ‘offers for Casadó’ is written in bold.
Barcelona don’t hide that a multi-million sale would be beneficial for them, and Casadó is one of the candidates who could be sold as he’s received offers in recent days.
Sport don’t mention who submitted bids but state his situation has caught the Premier League’s attention and ‘more specifically Chelsea’. The midfielder played 2,447 minutes from 36 games last season.
Hansi Flick has Casadó, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, Marc Bernal, Fermín López and Dani Olmo as options in midfield.
Barca sporting leaders highly value the Spain international, but he’s unlikely to have a major role next season. Therefore, he could be sold this summer.
Casadó’s contract expires in 2028, and includes a €100m release clause. With Chelsea keen, the newspaper states Barcelona are open to selling him if the Blues were to make an offer much higher than his €30m valuation.
Sport states: ‘The player’s opinion is another matter, as he is very closely associated with the club and the Blaugrana community.’
In other words, Chelsea have to convince their long-term target to secure his services.
Atlético Madrid have asked about him in the last few hours, as an alternative if they can’t sign Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso.
