Paris Saint-Germain signed Neymar from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222m in 2017.
On the front page of today’s edition of Sport, it’s claimed the Brazil international has ‘offered’ himself to the La Liga winners and the latter are discussing the possibility of re-signing him in the summer.
Within the story, it’s explained the forward’s name has been ‘on the table’ for the past few days, but bringing him back to the Camp Nou is not simple for various reasons.
His exit from the club was traumatic for the Spanish champions and the Catalan newspaper suggests they have not yet recovered from it. On the other hand, the 27-year-old believes his move to Parc des Princes was a step back in his career.
Even though the South American has flirted with several teams and there has been talk about Real Madrid’s rumoured interest, his idea is to return to Barcelona as he does not see himself playing for any other club in the league.
PSG’s reluctance to sell is a big issue.
For the Blaugrana to agree a deal with the French champions for the attacker, they will have to include one of their own players who has a high market value, as a part of the deal. In addition to this, Neymar’s salary could be another issue for them to re-sign him.
Ernesto Valverde’s side want to strengthen their attacking division for next season and Neymar’s qualities would make him a valuable addition to the squad.
However, they believe it would be much simpler for them to sign him next year than making an effort to land him this summer.
For now, Sport state Neymar is an option for Barcelona and his name is ‘on the table’ after he offered himself to his former club.
