‘Agreement in principle’ between Barcelona and Neymar is splashed on the front page of today’s edition of Sport.
Within the story, it reads ‘Neymar: Yes to Barca’s offer’.
It’s claimed the Paris Saint-Germain star’s desire to return is ‘so great’ that he did not put forward any conditions for the transfer.
The former Santos man earns €36.8m per season at Parc des Princes and the offer proposed by Josep Maria Bartomeu is less.
Sport states it hardly took any time for Ernesto Valverde’s side to agree a deal of €24m net per season.
At this moment, Neymar’s priority is not the economic proposal, but the sporting project as he wants to be happy again.
Therefore, Barcelona have a verbal agreement with the South American for a five-year deal and now the former has to find an agreement with Thomas Tuchel’s side to secure the 27-year-old.
Neymar had several options this summer, but he was very specific as his desire was only to return to Barca. Should they turn down the opportunity to land him, then he will consider the option of Real Madrid.
This has already been communicated to the leaders of the two Spanish giants and even though the economic offer of Los Blancos was higher than that of Barca, Neymar has given preference to the latter.
Remember, this is coming from the Catalan media.
Barcelona have also put forward another condition to bring Neymar back to the club. They want him to withdraw the legal complaint he filed for unpaid bonuses and commissions, which seems reasonable.
Four days ago, we carried a report from Sport that Barcelona have opened talks with PSG for Neymar through intermediaries, and this is once again relayed in today’s report.
Sport now states the negotiations with the Ligue 1 winners are complicated because of the poor relations between the clubs, which is why intermediaries are brought in to make the potential signing of Neymar smoother for Barca.
