Sandro Tonali announced his return to action with a terrific performance for Italy against France in the UEFA Nations League.
The performance caught the attention of Newcastle fans, who have already seen the Italian return for them in the Premier League.
An immense amount of attention was placed on him in Italy as well, as Tonali’s performance left Milan fans regretting their club’s decision to sell the midfielder.
Former Rossoneri midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has now encouraged Milan to bring Tonali back to the club. Of course that’s not going to happen in the near future, but it’s a desire for the future.
In a chat with Radio Serie A, as relayed by FCInter1908, Ambrosini spoke about Tonali.
“If Milan could bring home one of [Gigio] Donnarumma, Tonali, [Franck] Kessie or [Hakan] Calhanoglu? From the heart, I say Tonali.”
The idea is more of a dream than a concrete possibility, considering the financial realities of Serie A and how much Milan would have to pay to Newcastle for the move.
Ambrosini’s comments seem more like a way of hinting at Milan’s regret over selling Tonali to Newcastle and the concern of letting multiple important players leave in recent seasons.
