There’s a quite a lot of excitement in the Italian media about Napoli potentially signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this month.

It made the front page of Tuesday’s Corriere dello Sport, and Gazzetta dello Sport also gave the potential move a big splash.

The gist of the story so far is that Napoli are prepared to pay around €50m and have met Garnacho’s agents in Barcelona this week.

However, Manchester United are said to want €80m and that fee is too high for the Serie A side. Therefore they would have to try and get a discount from the Premier League club if they’re to sign the Argentina international.

Napoli’s local are getting a little carried away and AreaNapoli bring a claim which is both inevitable and questionable.

They state Scott McTominay has been in touch with Garnacho and told him to ‘come to Napoli’. It’s claimed the pair were ‘great friends’ at Manchester United and still have that relationship.

Of course, it can’t be ruled out that McTominay has tried to help his current club, but this very much feels like AreaNapoli trying to wish something into existence.
