European clashes involving AC Milan and Liverpool are always encounters that attract attention.
A lot of it is because of the rich history of the fixture and both clubs, and two sides will meet today in their opening Champions League clash.
Even though Milan picked their first win of the season against Venezia this past weekend, they haven’t started the season well. Liverpool, on the other hand, lost to Nottingham Forest despite starting the season brightly.
Ahead of the game, the Italian media feels that there seems to be a certain sense of ‘arrogance’ emanating from the English side of the fence.
Corriere dello Sport have looked at an English journalist’s comments about the Milan squad, when he was asked which Rossoneri players can get into the current Liverpool side.
The journalist responded that none of the three Englishman at Milan – Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham, would feature for the Reds. Rafael Leao was named as the only player who could.
Corriere dello Sport seem annoyed by the remarks from the journalist and they describe his judgement as a ‘presumption’ about the Rossoneri rather than a fact.
They mention that club captain Alvaro Morata should ideally make his team read those remarks and use those as fuel for the game later today.
Morata certainly has history with Liverpool, who knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of Morata not long ago.
