Douglas Luiz hasn’tsettled in at Juventus after his big-money move from Aston Villa.
After putting in poor performances and giving away multiple penalties for Juve, he picked up an injury. He wasn’t in the team’s squad for the game against Udinese at the weekend and the feeling was that he is continuing to nurse a muscle issue.
There’s now suggestions the player could be heading for an early exit.
Calciomercato.it report along those lines, also stating that the Brazilian was fit for the game against Udinese but he wasn’t called up at all because manager Thiago Motta doesn’t trust him.
As doubts increase about his tactical suitability, Juve are already considering Parma’s Adrian Bernabe as a replacement.
At the same time, Juve also want Douglas Luiz to regain confidence and there is a suggestion that he could return to Aston Villa on loan.
The Old Lady ‘could evaluate’ the possibility in January and they want the midfielder to operate in an environment that he is familiar with before he returns to Turin as a more confident player.
Whether Aston Villa are open to a deal like that remains to be seen.
