KV Kortrijk manager Freyr Alexandersson is expected to take over at Cardiff City, with talks already underway over a move.
That’s according to Het Laatste Niuews and Gazete van Antwerp, who both seem to think a move is inevitable for the coach.
GVA kick things off, reporting that Alexandersson ‘has already started’ talking to Cardiff City, who are a ‘parent club’ to the Belgian side.
Cardiff City fired manger Erol Bulut last week, with the Bluebirds bottom of the Championship after picking up one point from six games and scoring just one goal. That’s their worst start to a season in 94 years.
The fact that Vincent Tan also owns Kortrijk would make a transition easier and it’s an open secret Alexandersson would be interested in the job. In fact, he has told Icelandic media in the past that he hoped he would eventually become Cardiff manager.
He dreams of the Championship and the Premier League and already missed training sessions at Kortrijk last week for exploratory talks over several days with Cardiff. More progress is expected in the coming days.
HLN back that up, reporting that Alexandersson spent time last week to fly to speak to Cardiff City.
His experience with a relegation battle after he saved Kortrijk earlier this year is seemingly valued by Tan and as far as the Belgian media is concerned he’s now the ‘top candidate’ in his planning. All signs are pointing towards a deal being done and quickly according to the Belgian media.
