Facundo Pellistri’s recent impressive display in Manchester United’s pre-season clash with Derby County has led to him being ‘revalued’ at Old Trafford.
That’s according to AS, who say the youngster’s goal in the recent friendly appears to have changed perceptions at the Old Trafford club.
Pellistri spent the second half of last season on loan at Alavés and impressed with the Spanish club when given the opportunity.
They are keen to get him back, and a report from yesterday indicated that a move is seen as ‘feasible’ at this point in the summer.
At the moment, though, it is up to Manchester United what they do with the youngster this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. yet to decide on whether to keep him in their squad or send him out for experience.
The latter seems the most likely option given his age and competition for a spot in the starting line up at this point in time, but a definitive decision has yet to be made.
As such, he’s currently with the squad taking part in pre-season and was recently in good form in a win over Derby, scoring the winning goal in the 59th minute.
That, say AS, has led him to being ‘revalued’ by Manchester United, although the newspaper doesn’t make it clear what that means.
Our assumption is that those in charge at Old Trafford may be having second thoughts about sending him out again.
Alternatively, they may be considering asking for more money or sending him somewhere higher up the chain than Alavés.
Either way, the suggestion is that the Spanish side are waiting for Manchester United to finish reevaluating before they’ll know whether they can have Pellistri back again next season.
