Last week, the Friedkin Group agreed a deal to become the new custodians at Everton and they’re currently waiting for regulator approval to complete the takeover.
Two days later, Corriere dello Sport reported the Friedkin Group have identified Maurizio Sarri as the candidate to replace Sean Dyche. It was also stated they are ready to back the Italian in the winter market.
This claim is now backed up by InterLive.it, who provide more updates on Sarri’s plans for Everton.
The former Chelsea manager has been without a job since leaving Lazio earlier this year. The new Toffees owners would make changes at Goodison Park, including the manager.
Everton have four points from six games and are 16th in the table, a point ahead of 18th placed Crystal Palace. Dyche’s long-term future at the club seems to be uncertain.
InterLive.it state Sarri is the ‘first name’ on the Friedkin Group’s list and they’re willing to satisfy his signing requests in January.
It’s claimed the Italian has identified Inter Milan’s Piotr Zieliński as a target for Everton. The manager knows the 30-year-old well from his time at Napoli, after the Poland international left Naples for Inter on a free transfer in the summer.
Zieliński has been limited to 55 minutes from three league appearances this season. Due to this restricted role, the report states it’s possible for Everton to succeed if they make an attempt for him in January.
