Celtic are very much in the middle of the transfer rumour mill this week. Multiple players in Brendan Rodgers’ squad are being linked with moves away from the Scottish Premiership champions, and more are being linked with moves to Celtic Park.
The latest man to have his name thrown into the Celtic transfer ring is Mohamed Bayo. On Thursday afternoon, Foot Mercato report that after Lille and their manager Bruno Genesio looking like they were going to count on the 26-year-old striker, things have clearly changed for him.
A lack of prominence with the Ligue 1 club has encouraged ‘strong interest’ to emerge, at least according to Foot Mercato.
In words that look like they’ve been encouraged by an agent, Bayo is said to be receiving an awful lot of interest. Celtic, Angers, Montpellier, Metz, Royal Antwerp and Como are the clubs named.
As it stands, Lille are said to be against an exit, and that’s apparently left Bayo somewhat frustrated.
Bayo has played 16 games for Lille so far this season, mainly as a substitute, scoring three goals and adding two assists along the way.
Celtic interest looks to be in the very initial stages.
