Earlier on Monday we covered an article from Marca which explained Atletico Madrid’s plan ahead of their match against Liverpool this week.
Diego Simeone’s side don’t just want to rest on their 1-0 lead over the Reds, aware Jurgen Klopp has players who can change the tie around very quickly.
They want an away goal at Anfield, and Marca explained Alvaro Morata and Joao Felix finding the back of the net against Sevilla at the weekend, in a 2-2 draw, was a big boost for their confidence.
However, there’s now doubt around Morata.
In their final training session ahead of travelling to Liverpool, Atletico have been without the former Chelsea player. He’s training in the gym away from his teammates after picking up a ‘blow to the thigh’ in the match against Sevilla.
He also had another pain, which Marca say was in the buttocks, but that’s since gone.
Whilst it’s hoped he’ll be available, that he’s training in the gym brings some doubt, and adds to the players Simeone may not be able to call upon for the full match.
Thomas Lemar also keeps Atletico’s medical staff ‘in suspense’.
