With just three and a half days to go, FC Nantes in France are in serious need of reinforcements, including a new striker.

Among the names being looked at, according to Emmanuel Merceron, a former club employee well-known to the local press with a bit of information here and there, is Liverpool’s Divock Origi.

A bit short on time and funds, the French club are said to be looking at the Reds’ forward for a loan until the end of the season, but the financial aspect of the deal could prove a problem.

His ‘astronomical’ wages and the amount of competition from other European sides are making a deal ‘extremely difficult’, even if Nantes would very much like to bring in the former Lille starlet.

Struggling for first-team football under Jürgen Klopp this season, the 24-year-old has only made five appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and picking up one assist.

Not ideal for a striker who should be playing regularly to help his development.

Perhaps that will help Nantes, who should be able to offer him regular football week in, week out.
