Sometimes, we come across some odd stories, and Tuesday gave us a very interesting but similarly random one about a French rapper nearly signing for West Ham.

His name is Guy2bezbar, who released an album called COCO JOJO earlier in November, and the musician sat down to have a chat with Onze Mondial about his life to date.

Speaking to a football magazine, the chat unsurprisingly was focused, for a bit at least, on the sport at hand, at which point he revealed he came close to signing for West Ham United as a youngster.

A forward in his youth, playing on the wing with pace, he gave it a real go before falling back on his music, which he now practices full time.

As for his history with the Hammers, Guy2bezbar said: “I had many opportunities. At 14, I was meant to go to West Ham. It’s not a rumour. We were meant to sign with a friend called Mokhtar N’Diaye, he’s the younger cousin of Max-Alain Gradel. Lack of luck, the agent was a little con artist.

“He did something weird with the English agents, but we knew that West Ham had flashed on Mokhtar and me during a tournament. The scouts were following us. Unfortunately, it all disappeared”.

It’s always interesting to find out how close people came to making it in the world of football, even if there would have been no guarantees of playing professionally even if he had signed for West Ham.

Nevertheless, he still has a few contacts in football, speaking often to Jonathan Ikoné, and even Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, whom he played with at Drancy.
