On Friday, Foot Mercato came up with a surprise claim that West Bromwich Albion are in advanced negotiations to sign Yann M’Vila.
The Frenchman has been a free agent since leaving Olympiacos last summer and this allows the Baggies to sign him outside the transfer window.
Foot Mercato’s claim is backed up L’Equipe, who then provide their own take on the 33-year-old’s move to West Brom.
After being without a club for several months, the report says he’s ‘about to bounce back’ at the Championship side. A few French clubs, including FC Metz, tried to get M’Vila’s services, but his immediate future will be in England.
L’Equipe’s title says Yann M’Vila ‘should join’ West Brom and within the report, it’s said he’s set to sign a contract with them until the end of this season.
But! Football Club have also relayed Foot Mercato’s report and then add that the player’s transfer to West Brom is expected to go through in the ‘coming hours’.
M’Vila spent the 2015/16 season on loan at Sunderland, who also made contact to sign him. They’ll now miss out on him as the Frenchman is set to join West Brom on a free transfer.
