Frank de Boer is being linked with taking over at Anderlecht, despite it being only a week since the Dutchman lost his job at Crystal Palace.
A poor start to the Premier League saw De Boer kicked out of Selhurst Park, and with him any idea of the club changing style in the near future. In hindsight, De Boer had an impossible job on at Crystal Palace, and both the manager and club perhaps went into things a little naively.
Given De Boer’s previous job had been a disastrous short-reign at Inter Milan, in another role he shouldn’t have taken on, the manager’s decision making has rightly been questioned.
And that’s something he should think about right now, as Dutch websites, some pundits and fans, start to suggest he could be just the man for Anderlecht.
Belgium’s biggest club today parted company with manager Rene Weiler, but Anderlecht are in something of a circus mode right now. A difficult start to the season has been made worse by internal and external politics and a president who can’t seem to keep his mouth shut.
The perfect next destination after Crystal Palace? Probably not, but then De Boer isn’t exactly in a position that he can be choosy.
