Needing some extra manpower in midfield this summer, Roma have been looking all over the place to try and satisfy new manager Paulo Fonseca.

Manchester United’s Fred (who played under him at Shakhtar) was the early mention, but that disappeared rather quickly, as names like Jordan Veretout’s started gaining more prominence.

However, a new one has been added to the list if Leggo are to be believed, as Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko is being targeted.

The AS Roma-Spurs link is held by Franco Baldini, and the Italian newspaper explain the France international ‘has been requested’ by the Serie A side.

Sissoko is seen as an ‘alternative’ to Veretout, even if the Fiorentina midfielder remains ‘in pole’ for the time being.

The arrival of Tanguy Ndombele has certainly put one or two questions marks over Sissoko’s position in the pecking order ahead of next season, even if the two could easily cohabit under Mauricio Pochettino with another long season expected for Tottenham.

No fee or estimated value is mentioned, but after a relatively successful campaign for the 29-year-old, Spurs could easily request €30m or so for the former Newcastle player.
