Wolverhampton, who are aiming to remain in the Premier League after gaining promotion last season, want to make a big statement by signing one of three Ligue 1 midfielders on their shortlist.
This is what Le10 Sport (and take this with a pinch of salt) are reporting on Wednesday, claiming the trio is comprised of Houssem Aouar, Tanguy Ndombele and Morgan Sanson.
Now that you’ve had a good laugh, you’ll know the first two probably aren’t realistic targets, seeing as the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United are all over them these days, and the French outlet point that out.
They go as far as saying Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have ‘absolutely no chance’ of signing either Lyon players, but the story for Sanson is a bit different.
Le10 state the 24-year-old could be sold by the Ligue 1 side ‘if a big enough offer were to arrive’, but, quite frankly, we don’t see it.
Sanson is said to be preferring a renewal in the south of France, with talks already taking place to that regard, and our guess is he’ll want to leave having achieved something with the Ligue 1 side rather than leaving them in the lurch, especially with their season hardly going to plan.
