West Ham United ‘have made an offer’ for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca and ‘could compete’ with Paris Saint Germain for his signature.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who back up reports from Italy that the Hammers have made an effort to sign the highly-rated 23-year-old.
Gazzetta Dello Sport reported earlier today that an offer from West Ham ‘could materialise’ , with a €40m+ bid mooted.
L’Equipe back that up, stating PSG are ‘no longer alone’ in the race for the striker’s signature as West Ham have also ‘entered into discussions’.
They, however, state that the Hammers have reportedly made an offer ‘that is lower’ than the €40m which was reported earlier today in Italy.
According to their source at West Ham, though, it seems talks with PSG are a bit better for now, although the Ligue 1 side are still refusing to match the €50m Sassuolo are asking for.
Whether David Moyes and co. will go that high remains to be seen, and there is something of a game going on between the Italian and French media at the moment.
While the former are trying to make things look better for Sassuolo, the latter are doing the same for PSG.
West Ham find themselves right in the middle of that tug of war, hence the varying information.
What is clear is that they have made a bid to sign Scamacca and are trying to get him, but we might have to wait for things to develop a little more before we’re given a clearer indication of the offer they’ve put on the table.
