Widely expected to leave Nantes this summer, Valentin Rongier could have a lot of choice in front of him.
According to Le Foot, the midfielder has been targeted by Lyon, who see him as a potential replacement for Tanguy Ndombele.
However, the Champions League bound club could face some competition from the Premier League, as two clubs are named as being interested in Rongier: Southampton and Aston Villa.
The Villains, fresh off their play off final win to secure promotion back to England’s elite, are said to hold a good relationship with the Ligue 1 club, having previously pulled off a deal for Jordan Veretout a few years ago.
While his time at Villa Park didn’t go to plan, the midfielder is now at Fiorentina and expected to join Napoli in the near future.
As for Southampton in all this, it wouldn’t be the first time the Saints turn to Ligue 1 to bolster their squad, which will be needed this summer in order to avoid a repeat of last season when they spent most of the campaign fighting against relegation.
Ralph Hasenhüttl will undoubtedly have a plan in mind, and it appears Rongier could be a part of it.
It’s also worth pointing out that a couple of days ago, L’Equipe reported Lyon could step away from the Nantes midfielder, turning their attention on Lille’s Thiago Mendes instead.
Le Foot believe a fee of around €15m should be enough to convince Les Canaris to let their star midfielder go.
