L’Equipe make it clear in their Tuesday edition that Raphael Varane is considering his future and a transfer away from Real Madrid could be possible.
The World Cup is said to be ‘reflecting on his future’ with the club. After eight seasons, there’s a suggestion he’s at the end of a cycle. And following a rushed preseason, and not enough rest, there’s some frustration from Varane with the current campaign.
Manchester United, of course, get a mention, although it doesn’t sound particularly strong. According to L’Equipe, the Red Devils have ‘never given up attracting’ Varane, so would be waiting in the wings to find out his decision.
Varane is tempted to test himself in a new environment, and it’s believed that if he moves he could break the world record for a defender transfer, currently held by Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.
There’s no claims of any talks from Manchester United or an amount that the Premier League club may be willing to offer, and there’s not even an indication they’re aware of Varane’s wobble over his future.
Of course, when this kind of thing happens it’s often related to a pay rise.
