PSG are considering the option of signing Matteo Guendouzi, report L’Equipe on Wednesday evening.

The ‘track’ leading to the Arsenal player has been ‘reactivated’, and they could try and use Julian Draxler to get a deal done.

With a year left on his contract, the German is a player PSG are looking to part ways with this summer, although it’s thought he’s keen to stay in Paris. Leeds United and Bayer Leverkusen have been linked with the player in recent days, and the response from Germany has sounded pessimistic about a deal.

Draxler knows that he’ll be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club soon, and pick up a big signing bonus and hefty wages if there’s no transfer fee to be paid. PSG obviously wouldn’t be keen on such a scenario, so them trying to sell him is to be expected.

PSG have continued following Guendouzi’s development after he spent some time with them during his formative years, and a move to French club wouldn’t be the step back the Arsenal player fears.

The Ligue 1 champions would hope Draxler could be tempted by a move to Arsenal, rather than waiting for his free agent status.

Currently, this all seems like a potential move very much at the idea stage, although it could become more concrete as the window grows older.
