France’s FootMercato are reporting Serge Aurier has forgotten about potentially leaving Tottenham Hotspur, having held a positive chat with Jose Mourinho.
Born in Ivory Coast, Aurier has spent the vast majority of his life in France after his family moved to the country for better chances in life. He played for Lens, Toulouse and PSG before signing for Spurs in 2017.
That stories come from France claiming inside information should be no surprise, and these latest claims are positive regarding a Tottenham future for the player.
Aurier had already spoken about considering an exit in the last transfer window, and it’s explained he may not have been given fair chances under Mauricio Pochettino.
Since Mourinho took over at the club, it’s claimed the pair have had a chat, which lasted ‘several tens of minutes’. During that meeting the manager is said to have told Aurier that he’s one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League, but if he focuses more on and off the pitch then he’ll be ‘one of the best in the world’.
Now it’s his ‘priority’ to remain with Tottenham, and to do so he’ll surely have to take Mourinho’s advice seriously.
