Alphonse Areola is again said to be of interest to Rafael Benitez, report France Football on Monday afternoon.
With Thomas Tuchel now named as PSG’s new manager, on a two year deal, it’s half expected a goalkeeper could be one of his first signings.
With Kevin Trapp and Alphonse Areola both finding it difficult to convince enough for the French champions, a string of names have been linked.
Benitez and Newcastle United could look to take advantage, with it being claimed the Spaniard has spoken to Areola ‘several times’.
There’s an interesting twist from France Football, and one which Newcastle fans won’t like, and that’s a claim Benitez may even be thinking about Areola for another club.
It’s claimed the former Liverpool manager wants to know if Areola would like to work with him, and it’s not certain that would be at Newcastle.
A transfer away from PSG is seen as likely by the French source, and a potential move valued at €15-20m.
Newcastle already have Martin Dubravka, who has done well enough to justify claims of a permanent move being on the cards.
