Even if their priority seems to be a new, relatively experienced centre-back and a prolific striker, Arsenal’s interest in Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez remains a continuous source of discussion across Europe.

Despite Instagram photos from the club’s owner saying he will not leave, the Algerian international’s future at the Premier League champions remains a doubt, and his want to leave is apparently not a secret anymore.

At least, that’s according to Eurosport.fr’s Ilyes Ramdani, who took to Twitter to explain the situation surrounding the Leicester City star.

He said: “No one will have missed the fact the player remains silent and has not once said or insinuated he wants to stay at Leicester, but he completely refuses to go head to head with a club he has a lot of respect for (and who obviously want to keep him).

“He has therefore told all parties about his wish to play for Arsenal), but he won’t force a move away from Leicester”.

Having managed to convince Jamie Vardy to resist Wenger’s advances, the unlikely title holders will clearly do their utmost to manage the same with their star winger.

However, if next season doesn’t go as well as last year’s, and the club fall back below the Champions League spots, we would fully expect the 25-year-old to get the move he seemingly wants so badly.
