Liverpool have already agreed a deal with AS Monaco for Fabinho and the Brazilian will complete his switch to Anfield on July 1st, now there’s claims Jurgen Klopp wants another.
Today’s edition of the French newspaper L’Equipe reports Liverpool are still keen on Thomas Lemar. Monaco vice-chairman Vadim Vasilyev is expected to allow the player to leave this summer.
L’Equipe explain Klopp’s side made an attempt at signing Lemar last summer. The Merseyside club made a bid of around €90m for the player, which was turned down by Monaco. Arsenal offered more, €100m, but it’s claimed Lemar chose the Reds and was willing to turn down other opportunities.
Lemar played a key role in Monaco’s title winning campaign in the 2016/17 season. His form saw him attract interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
L’Equipe claims these clubs are still interested in signing the player, and transfer activity is expected.
Lemar will travel to the World Cup with France and is aware that he isn’t short of suitors. However, after a less fantastic season he could probably do with some great performances in Russia to help convince clubs to get near that €100m figure again.
