Spending the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina without actually playing a game, Yohan Benalouane’s future has been away from Leicester for a while now.

Barely making an appearance under Claudio Ranieri, the Tunisian defender needs to leave the King Power Stadium to get his career back on track, with a move to France potentially on the cards.

According to FootMercato on Friday morning on their live blog, Nantes in France are studying the possibility of saving Benalouane from his Leicester misery as they look to bolster their defence for the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Since arriving from Atalanta in August 2015 for just under £6m, the 29-year-old defender has only made nine appearances for Leicester, featuring more for the club’s U23s (12 appearances and one goal).

A move to Nantes would also see the player rediscover Ligue 1, a league he spent three years in with Saint-Etienne between 2007 and 2010, making 80 appearances for Les Verts.
