For someone who keeps repeating he’s happy at Aston Villa and enjoying being managed by Steve Bruce, there are a lot of rumours linking Jordan Amavi away from Villa Park.
The left-back, who missed most of last season with a bad knee injury suffered with France’s U21s, has regained his deserved place in the Villains’ starting line up for the 2016-17 campaign, and is helping them climb back up the Championship table.
However, playing in England’s second tier is seen as a hindrance by a few, especially for a player of his potential and ability, and reports in France have suggested a transfer to Ligue 1 could be on the cards.
Marseille were the first to be mentioned, a move the player dismissed rather quickly, but Rudi Garcia’s side aren’t the only ones allegedly interested.
A few articles have popped up in France suggesting that Bordeaux, managed by Jocelyn Gourvennec, are interested in bringing the 21-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, and while that’s a lovely thought, the source of the story remains a big question mark.
Each article mentions a rather in-the-know looking Twitter account called Girondinfos as the original claim, which, even if one of them says they’re ‘fairly reliable’ doesn’t fill us with confidence over this.
Malgré la concurrence de Marseille, les dirigeants @girondins souhaiteraient se faire prêter le latéral gauche @JordanAmavi cet hiver ! https://t.co/07iVnW26hP

Of course, the interest could be there, and they might be right, but the likelihood of Aston Villa letting one of their starting players go on loan without the left-back forcing the move is slim to none.
