Tuesday’s L’Equipe has an article on ‘a revelation of the Ligue 1 season’, and that man is Brest’s Romain Faivre.
The midfielder has been picking up attention and it’s encouraging transfer rumours ahead of the summer, with Leeds United pulled into the equation by the French newspaper.
He was signed from AS Monaco in the last summer window for just €350k, with the French principality club retaining a ‘modest’ percentage of a re-sale. Praised for having good technical skills, the 22-year-old left-footer showed some good flashes recently against PSG.
Brest extended his contract over the winter, and they’re well protected given Faivre’s deal lasts until June 2025.
There’s thought to be interest from Germany, specifically from Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, and when it comes to the Premier League, L’Equipe states: ‘Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds have been in the spotlight for several months.’
Brest would be looking at ‘close to €20m’ for a move and there’s a suggestion they could be interested in a deal which would see the player return on loan.
Given how much profit they’re set to make, interested clubs like Leeds United would surely try to get that amount down.
