Once again, it seems the French media are contradicting each other.
Yesterday, France Football stated that Chelsea and Leicester had agreed on a €35m fee.
On Friday morning, the very respected and reliable Mohamed Bouhafsi reported for RMC Sport that the deal was as good as done, with the player agreeing a five-year contract, a medical scheduled in the next 48 hours and a fee of €36m agreed.
Well, if you choose to believe France Football on Friday afternoon, the transfer isn’t done yet, as Leicester have in fact rejected Chelsea’s first offer of €36m, in hope of getting more for their star player.
The reason behind this, apparently, is an offer of €41m made by an unnamed Chinese club, and Leicester would like Chelsea to match that offer before they agree to sell him.
However, France Football fully expect Chelsea to make a second offer.
It’s all very confusing and contradictory, but Antonio Conte’s interest in the 25-year-old is ‘very serious’.
