Making his debut for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola earlier this season in the Champions League qualifier against Steaua Bucharest, Pablo Maffeo is clearly part of the Spaniard’s plans.

The 18-year-old right-back, who arrived from Espanyol’s youth academy back in 2013, spent the second half of last season on loan at Girona FC.

During his time in Spain, the youngster made 13 appearances for the La Liga 2 club, and picked up an assist along the way.

His performances were clearly enough to grab the attention of a few scouts, as Mercato365 report Lille could be interested in bringing him to France in order to give him some more experience.

According to the French website, the defender is on Luis Campos’ list of players to consider if/when Gerard Lopez completes his takeover of the Ligue 1 club.

With this being likely, Manchester City could consider the deal, considering the youngster’s path is currently blocked by the experienced duo of Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta.

There’s no mention of what the deal would be, but we can only assume it would be a temporary one if Guardiola is confident enough in the player’s ability to already hand him a start.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one.
