It’s already started. Just eight hours after it was announced that Arsène Wenger will step down from the Arsenal job at the end of the season, we already have a rumour from France about Carlo Ancelotti being the favourite to replace him thanks to Le Parisien.

According to the French newspaper on their website, the Italian manager, who has already managed in the Premier League during a spell at Chelsea, has yet to give the Gunners a final answer, but there’s an expectation he will agree to replace the Frenchman for next season.

Ancelotti, having undoubtedly received many offers since his departure from Bayern Munich, is said to prioritise a move to Arsenal, a club where who have allegedly been after him for many years and who would give him full power in football matters, including in the transfer market.

That last point is one of the reasons why his time in the Bundesliga wasn’t the most successful, as he had to go along with what the board wanted for the team rather than what he had in mind.

Le Parisien also state that Chelsea recently tried to get him to replace Antonio Conte, but it appears the former Paris Saint-Germain man has his mind set on a spell at the Emirates.

It might not be the most inspiring choice, nor the most romantic, but if there’s one thing Ancelotti knows how to do, it’s getting results out of his teams.
