After months of articles trying to work out where Adrien Rabiot could end up, it appears we might finally have some idea of where he might be going.
According to Canal+ journalist Geoffroy Garétier, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, whose contract is due to expire at the end of the current season, is close to signing for Real Madrid.
After being linked with Barcelona, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Arsenal (among others), Rabiot appears to have favoured teaming up with Zinedine Zidane in Spain’s capital, where the cycle of midfield duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos appears to be coming to an end.
While nothing has been signed just yet, Garétier claims the France international is close to agreeing terms with the La Liga giants, which would then lead to pen being put to paper down the line.
Rabiot is said to have been identified as having the ‘complete profile’ to eventually become a major part of Real Madrid’s squad in the next few years, taking over from the Croatian star.
Of course, it’s worth pointing out that a similar scenario unfolded with Barcelona a few months ago only for the Catalans to eventually lump on Frenkie de Jong instead.
