With Willem in the Netherlands since 2016, the striker is having a good season, and is one of the players in the running to be top scorer.

AZ’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh is on 18 goals, AZ’s Wout Weghorst, PSV’s Hirving Lozano, and Fran Sol are all on 16 goals, and Bjorn Johnsen has found the back of the net 15 times for ADO.

Dutch newspaper AD have an article on this in their Thursday edition, and they point out Sol really wants to see if he can win. It’s then added: ‘Premier League clubs Watford and Crystal Palace could not inspire him. Sol sat at Vicarage Road last week with his agent in the stands and saw the clubs draw in 0-0.’

That’s it, there’s no claims of a transfer being on the cards, but then a trip to watch Watford against Crystal Palace isn’t exactly a bucket-list event. Speculation is inevitable that there could be more in it, especially with the player’s agent also travelling.

This week Dutch newspaper BD spoke to Sol, who told them it was ‘a private visit’, but there’s still rumours swirling around the Netherlands, and now England, suggesting there could be something in it.

Aside from the visit, there’s nothing concrete looking in the Dutch reports. In January, there were claims in the Netherlands, and it’s fair to make an assumption Watford interest has continued at some level.
