Once widely seen as the next best thing out of Brazil, Lucas Piazon did what many other youngsters thought was a good idea at the time: sign for Chelsea.
Unfortunately, seven years later, the 25-year-old is entering the last six months of his Stamford Bridge contract with only three senior appearances to show for it.
Loaned to five clubs over that period, Piazon is now looking for a January exit, and he’s being offered around.
According to Foot Mercato’s Sébastien Denis, Marseille, Nantes, Saint-Etienne and Bordeaux in Ligue 1 were all give the chance to sign the former Brazil U23 international, but none were interested.
Following these disappointments, Piazon is now expected to leave Chelsea and sign for Torino in Serie A, with the Blues pocketing €3m along the way.
That would represent close to £4m in losses in transfer fee for the Premier League side, who originally bought the Brazilian for £6.75m from Sao Paulo, but, to be honest, we don’t think either party cares at this point.
