Long linked with a move away from Everton despite his public denials on Twitter, David Henen appears set to leave Goodison Park this January in search of a some extra game time.
Reportedly in talks with Marseille over a move a couple of week ago according to RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, the 20-year-old is now set to join Lille on a permanent transfer in the coming hours/days.
Mercato365 in France report on Monday that ‘barring a last minute change of plan’, the Everton player will leave Goodison Park to sign for the Ligue 1 side.
Dernière Heure in Belgium have a bit more information, claiming the forward will in fact sign a five-year contract with the French club.
Henen was reported to have rejected a contract of similar length from Everton, preferring to try his luck on the transfer market, something he confirmed in an interview back in December.
It seems the player is finally getting what he wants after failing to make a senior appearance in his two years under both Roberto Martinez and Ronald Koeman following his transfer from Olympiakos for £240k back in 2015.
