With four wins in their last five Premier League games, the most recent of which being a 3-0 away victory over Bournemouth, Watford are finally out of the relegation zone for the first time this season.
Goals haven’t exactly been hard to come by, but that doesn’t mean Nigel Pearson isn’t keen on adding some firepower and creativity to his squad for the second half of the season.
Just before the transfer window started, we covered a story from Italy that Watford were ‘pushing’ to sign Udinese’s Ignacio Pussetto, and while the story has been a bit quiet since, it’s come back on Monday in Corriere dello Sport.
According to the newspaper, the Argentine winger, who has been in Udine since July 2018, could ‘say goodbye’ to Italy in the January transfer window and head to the Premier League side.
It’s not said if this would be as part of the deal for Pussetto or a separate transaction altogether, but Corriere explain that Marvin Zeegelaar, who has yet to feature at Vicarage Road this season, could be doing the reverse trip.
The Dutch defender already knows Udinese relatively well, having spent the second half of last season on loan with the Serie A side, where he made 12 appearances.
We’ll have to wait for a few more details before getting behind this one, but seeing as we doubt Watford would stand in Zeegelaar’s way, and with Udinese being part of the Pozzo family business, if the owners want this deal done, both Pussetto and the left-back could very well be swapping sides in the next couple of weeks.
