The past couple of days has seen the emergence of some rather exciting stories for Fulham, who appear to be looking for both a defender and another forward.

Linked with Domagoj Vida late on Thursday for the centre-back position, earlier reports from Italy suggested Claudio Ranieri was also interested in Grégoire Defrel for his attack, as he looks to help out Aleksandar Mitrovic with more firepower.

However, the situation is a little bit complicated since the Frenchman is currently on loan from Roma at Sampdoria, and a deal would only be possible if the Genoa based side agreed to cut the deal for their six goals in 18 league appearances striker short.

That hasn’t happened just yet, but there has been talk of them looking at alternatives, and we’re guessing that if they can find one, they’ll give Roma the green light to bring back Defrel to then send him to Fulham, from whom they’ll be able to get more money from.

The idea would be to recoup most of their original expenditure (around €20m altogether), and Gazzetta dello Sport explain that news of the Cottagers’ interest has reached the forward, who is said to be ‘stimulated’ or ‘aroused’ (the word translates both ways) by the news.

A good sign for Claudio Ranieri and co.
