If you can cast your mind back to last summer, you’ll remember Brighton & Hove Albion came very close to signing Raphael Dwamena from FC Zurich in Switzerland.

The Ghana international was on the verge of completing his move to the Premier League, only for the Seagulls doctors to pull the plug at the last minute when they found an apparent cardiac issue during his medical.

Brighton, not wanting to take any risks, cancelled the transfer, and the now 22-year-old returned to Switzerland to have further tests, where he was given the all clear.

Spending another season with FC Zurich as a result, Dwamena has now completed his exit from the club and signed for Levante in Spain.

Very happy to continue his career with a new club, the striker couldn’t help but have a slight dig at the Brighton medical staff during his presentation.

Relayed by Mundo Deportivo, he said: “The doctors told me I wouldn’t be able to play football anymore… yet here I am. God wanted for me to not go to England and end up at Levante. My heart is perfect”.

Dwamena scored 13 goals and picked up 12 assists for FC Zurich last season in 36 appearances.
