Former West Ham United midfielder Kevin Nolan has told Talksport Dimitri Payet has let down his own fans after demanding a transfer away from the Premier League side. Payet has been dropped from Slaven Bilic’s team following recent events.

Speaking on the Alain Brazil Morning show, Nolan was asked about the situation with Payet and West Ham. The 34-year-old believes the France international has taken bad advice after refusing to play for West Ham, and thinks the subsequent events have been poor.

Nolan said he feels for the West Ham faithful because of the actions of the playmaker: “It’s disappointing. I think he’s been badly advised on the situation. He’s let the West Ham fans down,” said Nolan on the Frenchman.

Payet will return to training today, but as yet it’s not known if he will be training with the West Ham first team or the development side. The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to his former club Marseille, and whilst two offers have come in from the Ligue 1 club, West Ham have turned down both bids.
