Expected to be bought by Charleroi in the coming months as they trigger the clause in his loan from Wolfsburg, Victor Osimhen will be sold this summer if someone puts €15m on the Belgian club’s table.
Loaned for the time being, the Nigeria international could find himself in a more ‘prestigious’ club next season.
Where that is remains a mystery, but the potential is there for the 20-year-old to develop into an impressive goalscorer, to the point where he could play for a club like Liverpool.
At least that is what former striker Nordin Jbari thinks, speaking to VOO Sport and relayed by DH on Friday.
He said: “For me, he’s worth the €15m as he’s only 20 and because he has all the qualities of a modern footballer. He’s a player who could work well in Liverpool’s style of play, as they produce direct football with speed and penetration.
“But before that, he will need to go via an intermediate step, like Lille. Their manager, Christophe Galtier, has all the qualities to get the best out of each player, and he could do it for Osimhen.”
Were he to follow that exact trajectory, the youngster would end up in Divock Origi’s footsteps, the hero of Anfield in their 4-0 comeback against Barcelona in the Champions League, helping set up next Saturday’s clash against Tottenham in the competition’s final.
The youngster scored 19 goals in 35 appearances this season.
